INTERNSHIP
OPPORTUNITIES
We
offer internships to junior or senior level college students
majoring in accounting. We expect our interns to be interested
in pursuing a public accounting career and are planning to take
the CPA exam. We work with your course schedule to allow you
the ability to gain technical experience and knowledge while
working directly with experienced CPA's. If you are interested

Individual
performance is the main element in determining how quickly one
will progress to the various classifications. During the course
of a year, employees receive continuous feedback on job performance
from supervisors and partners. Annual performance
evaluations are held with you to discuss performance on a more
formal basis.

FRINGE
BENEFITS
Health,
Dental, and Vision Insurance--Health,
dental and vision insurance coverage are provided through Blue
Cross/Blue Shield of Michigan. The extent of coverage is similar
to what is found in most commercial programs. The employee cost
of coverage is a percentage of the premium amount depending
on single or family coverage. The employee may elect to have
their portion of the premium deducted on a before-tax basis
(Section 125 plan). There is also a cafeteria plan available for unreimbursed medical and dependent care costs.
Life
Insurance--Professional
staff are provided $50,000 of term life insurance at no cost.
Disability
Insurance--Short-term
and long-term disability coverage is provided at no cost.
401(k)
Plan--Employees
may participate in our 401(k) Retirement Plan. Makela, Toutant,
Hill & Nardi, P.C., makes a matching contribution of 50% up to a yearly match of $1,200. Investments are made through American
Funds Service Company. Thirteen funds are available to you, including
stock funds, stock/bond funds, bond funds, and money market
funds.
Overtime--Payment
of overtime is made through the senior level at the individual's
hourly rate for hours in excess of 40 per week. In addition,
generally, professional staff thru the senior level may elect to accumulate up to 80 hours of
overtime and use this time off as additional vacation in lieu
of payment.
Vacation--Initial
vacation entitlement is twelve days per year. Depending upon length
of service and staff level achieved, this can increase to twenty-seven days per year.
Paid
Holidays--Paid
holidays include New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence
Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
CPA
Exam--We
reimburse for certain expenses incurred in connection with obtaining
professional certification. Reimbursement includes tuition and
books for one formal or self-study coaching course. In addition,
the application and section fees for the first three testing windows are paid by the firm. Employees passing the exam within
three testing windows are eligible for a bonus. Paid time off is granted
for the first three exam sittings.
